A major Chinese optical fibre and cable company required a report on its position in the industry in China and globally.  This information was to be used to help this company raise finance.

Our Recommendation
CRU was able to provide independent data on an industry that is relatively opaque by using our expert knowledge and contacts in this industry. This data will be maintained for continuous assessment of leading producers in this industry.

Methodology
A report was prepared which showed the quantities of optical preforms, drawn fibre, and optical cable produced by the company and its main competitors, along with a discussion of its market share and sales in China and the World.

The report also included a description of CRU’s methods for collecting and analyzing industry production data. Is not easy to collect and to make consistent comparisons in this market, so we conducted personal interviews and used CRU's expert industry judgement as well as public information.

This report also focused on key changes in preform production and capacity, since a fibre shortage has developed as a result of a shortage of preform.

Outcome
This report was used to help this company raise finance.

CRU has developed a leading position in the provision of accurate and reliable data in the optical fibre industry.

CRU has gained significant knowledge about China’s optical fibre industry, which is by-far the largest producer of optical fibre in the world.
