Chris Asgill, Chris Houlden

CRU is pleased to announce that Chris Asgill has been appointed as Head of Steel.

Before joining CRU, Chris worked for BlueScope in Australia, a global steel and construction services organisation, typifying CRU’s customers. At BlueScope he held a range of roles across operations, supply chain management, and as an analyst supporting corporate strategy development. Commencing his career as a metallurgical engineering cadet with BlueScope, Chris has 21 years’ experience in the steel industry, including as a consumer of CRU’s services.

Most recently Chris was the Analysis Lead for CRU’s Crude Steel and Metallics services, covering steel output by production process, ferrous scrap and ore-based metallics such as DRI/HBI and pig iron. These services provide an integral link between the Steel team’s work on finished steel products and demand for steel- and iron-making raw materials. As Head of Steel, Chris will drive and support the development and delivery of CRU’s price, analysis, forecasting, cost and carbon emissions services for the global mining and steel markets CRU serves.
